Sketch Coat is a project by D-Due elaborated for 90_20 with the objective of creating a unique piece with a distinctly artistic character and borderline in its formal materialization as garment object.
In this sense, the woven fabrics worked with refer to classical materials such as linen, intervened in collaboration with artist Álvaro Negro. The artist painted on them while preparing for an exhibition, leaving a trace of what had taken place during his pictorial practice on each piece of cloth. Once the fabric had been selected, construction of the piece began by distributing the stains like an artist’s sketch for a painting; this resemblance to a rough draft is nevertheless referential, since each element has been graphically intervened in a manual process involving fine workmanship.
Sketch Coat is a unique and exclusive garment, not without the humor and irony D-Due employs to reconfigure its references until they are imbued with the brand’s unmistakable personality.
